The Food and Beverage Manager is responsible for acknowledging guests with a smile and friendly greeting, promptly attending to their needs, and complying with all hotel policies and procedures. This role involves acting as a safety and security agent, reporting for work on time in appropriate attire, completing work promptly, and maintaining a clean work area. The manager is expected to demonstrate teamwork, seek approval for overtime, and perform additional duties as assigned. Key responsibilities include supervising various outlets, creating promotions and marketing programs to drive business, developing menus and advertising to enhance sales, and communicating with the Sales Department to ensure smooth delivery of banquet contracts. The manager must support all F&B employees, prepare work schedules, ensure beverage servers are trained on laws and policies, and be responsible for financial performance and GSTS goals. They must enforce cash handling policies, coordinate supply purchases, monitor inventory, and participate in daily operations, including Room Service. Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and décor, controlling costs, and assisting with price shopping and labor management are also crucial. Safety responsibilities include providing new employee orientations and ongoing safety training, promoting company safety policies, and remedying safety concerns. Managerial expectations include supporting high performance in service and profitability, holding oneself and others accountable, fostering high employee morale, providing strong leadership, responding to concerns in a timely manner, coaching and motivating staff, and maintaining accurate documentation. This includes scheduling staff, interviewing, selecting, training, and orienting employees, setting pay rates, ensuring payroll standards are met, reviewing time and attendance, and managing employee status for benefits. The manager must train the team on timekeeping procedures, manage workers' compensation claims, keep staff informed through meetings and memos, attend Department Manager meetings, participate in the annual budgeting process, and manage department expenses. In the absence of the General Manager, the Food and Beverage Manager assumes managerial responsibilities and must be knowledgeable of emergency procedures, while also effectively using technology and embracing change, innovation, and creativity.
