About The Position

Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort is seeking a Food & Beverage Cashier. This role involves greeting guests warmly, providing excellent service, processing payments accurately, and collaborating with team members to ensure overall guest satisfaction. The position requires operating a cash register, settling checks, receiving various forms of payment, issuing receipts, and maintaining a clean work area. Additional responsibilities may include assisting guests with information and resolving complaints, balancing the register, building guest relationships, and maintaining an upbeat and positive attitude. Depending on the specific location (e.g., EDR, Room Service, Barista), additional duties may include cooking, taking orders, preparing beverages, and up-selling. The role emphasizes adherence to company policies, ethical conduct, and contributing to a positive work environment.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • RASP certification is required (can be completed within 30 days of hire date).
  • Must demonstrate the following essential knowledge and skills:
  • Able to attend to multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Legible handwriting.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, or divide quickly and correctly.
  • Ability to talk to others to convey information effectively.

  • Six months of food service experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greet guests warmly upon entry and provide excellent service.
  • Operate a cash register and properly settle guest checks.
  • Receive payment by cash, credit cards, comps, or automatic debits.
  • Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to guests.
  • Record tips from credit cards, automatic debits, and comp guests.
  • Keep the work area neat and clean.
  • Assist guests by providing information and resolving their complaints.
  • Balance the register at the end of the shift.
  • Build relationships with guests.
  • Demonstrate superior guest service skills.
  • Ensure service recovery activities.
  • Maintain an upbeat and positive attitude.
  • Build relationships by greeting guests with a warm, friendly verbal greeting.
  • Maintain clean and orderly checkout areas and complete other general cleaning duties.

  • For EDR Cashier: Able to work behind the serving line as a cook, as needed.
  • For EDR Cashier: Control food production to include: proper cooking methods, cooking time, and temperature, ensuring sanitation, handling, and storage of prepared food and leftovers as needed.
  • For Room Service Cashier: Accept responsibility for cash register bankroll, all cash received, credit card charges, complimentary receipts, and charges to rooms.
  • For Room Service Cashier: Maintain knowledge of current menu items and pricing, how the items are prepared, and what accompanies each meal.
  • For Room Service Cashier: Responsible for taking guests' food and beverage orders in a timely, cordial, and professional manner, noting any special requests, obtaining needed approvals/verifications as necessary, and processing all orders using the computer system.
  • For Room Service Cashier: Assure timely delivery of comp requests from VIP Services and other casino departments.
  • For Room Service Cashier: Responsible for keeping accurate log entries for all call-down orders, special requests, and hotel guest charge records.
  • For Room Service Cashier: Verify guest room numbers and estimated time of arrival for delivery of amenities.
  • For Room Service Cashier: Dispatch and track service person availability for orders and assign deliveries, as well as tray pick.
  • For Room Service Cashier: Notify management of any guest complaints, alleged discrepancies, and/or problems involving Room Service.
  • For Room Service Cashier: Assist in the routine inspections and monthly inventories of room service equipment, china, flatware, linen, etc., to ensure proper storage and maintenance.
  • For Barista Cashier: Highly skilled in coffee preparation with a comprehensive understanding of coffee blends, quality, coffee variety, roast degree, and latte art.
  • For Barista Cashier: Able to recite recipes from memory and flawlessly prepare all beverages.
  • For Barista Cashier: Ability to up-sell alcohol, chocolate, pastries, and retail in accordance with restaurant standards.
