About The Position

The Folder Gluer Assistant Operator will operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner following indicated work methods. This role involves making ready, assisting the operator, and maintaining the Folder Gluer. The assistant operator will observe and monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions and determine necessary adjustments, as well as identify, troubleshoot, and correct product defects caused by the machine. They will perform routine adjustments during machine runs, maintain production throughout the run, and set up and operate the machine to meet established published specifications. Ensuring all orders are completed to specifications, including special instructions, is crucial. The role also includes performing basic repairs and preventive maintenance on the machine, assisting in running the machine to meet production goals, and maintaining housekeeping standards. Additionally, the assistant operator will train others as needed, conduct operations in a manner that promotes safety, maintain a clean work area, comply with all safety rules and quality policies, keep appropriate records, and manage machine/department waste. Other duties may be assigned by managers, supervisors, or shift leaders.

Requirements

  • Able and willing to perform and sustain productivity goals (set up times, down time, MSF produced, etc).
  • Ability to problem solve with minimal assistance.
  • Provide daily feedback to supervisor regarding all aspects of shift/machine activity.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with other employees, supervisors, managers, etc.
  • Be able to interpret and understand scheduling lineup.
  • Must have basic computer skills (data entry, etc) and be able to perform basic arithmetic including additions, subtractions, multiplications and division.
  • Comply with all IPs Safety rules and Quality policies and protocols at all times.
  • Must have ability to learn and understand machine line up.
  • Must have ability to understand all operations of the folder gluer.
  • Must have ability to interpret a variety of instructions given in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Must have ability to understand and accurately utilize KIWI.
  • Must be dependable and reliable.

Responsibilities

  • Make ready, assists operator and maintains the Folder Gluer.
  • Observes and monitors machine operations to detect malfunctions and to determine whether adjustments are needed.
  • Identifies, troubleshoots and corrects product defects caused by the machine.
  • Performs routine adjustments during the machine run and maintains production throughout the run.
  • Sets up and operates machine meeting established published specifications.
  • Ensures all orders are completed to specifications including “special instructions” if applicable.
  • Identifies and makes basic repairs to the machine.
  • Ensure operation of Folder Gluer and related equipment by completing basic preventive maintenance requirements according to operation standards.
  • Assists running the machine meeting production goals.
  • Maintains housekeeping standards all the time.
  • Trains other as needed.
  • Conduct operations in a manner that promotes safety.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area.
  • Comply with all IP’s Safety rules and Quality policies and protocols at all times.
  • Keep appropriate records and reports (complete forms, logs, and records accurately – as required).
  • Responsible for managing machine/department waste.
  • Other duties as assigned by managers and or supervisors/shift leader.
