About The Position

RedSky is seeking an experienced FOIA Analyst to provide support to the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Headquarters in Fort Meade, MD. The successful candidate is responsible for processing FOIA and Privacy Act requests, conducting records research, coordinating with subject matter experts, and preparing agency responses in strict accordance with federal laws, Department of Defense (DoD) regulations, and DISA policies. This role ensures the timely and accurate processing of requests while actively balancing the public's right to information with the protection of national security, privacy interests, and proprietary information.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 2 years of related experience (equivalent experience or additional years of experience may be substituted for the education requirement).
  • Working knowledge of Executive Order 13526, the federal classification/declassification process, the Freedom of Information Act, and the Privacy Act.
  • Proven experience conducting detailed document review and analysis backed by strong analytical, research, and critical thinking skills.
  • A demonstrated ability to work independently while seamlessly managing multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Thorough understanding of classification principles, national security information protection requirements, and the capability to determine if a document contains classified material or Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and rapidly shifting priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills combined with a strong customer service orientation when interacting with requesters and stakeholders.
  • Fundamental understanding and proficiency in all relevant program applications, including Microsoft Office products, Excel, BlueBeam, and SharePoint.
  • Physical capacity to read paper documents and actively utilize a computer workstation for at least 8 hours a day.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, review, and process FOIA and Privacy Act requests submitted to DISA, thoroughly analyzing them to determine scope, responsiveness, and processing requirements.
  • Apply FOIA exemptions and Privacy Act provisions under the guidance of applicable laws and accurately recognize equities from other agencies to make proper document referrals.
  • Utilize electronic redaction tools to prepare releasable versions of records and draft response letters, memoranda, and supporting documentation for formal government review and approval.
  • Maintain highly accurate case files and tracking information within FOIA case management systems, and utilize electronic records management tools to track all review activities.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with the customer by proactively asking questions, collaborating constructively with peers, and implementing process improvements to increase efficiency, productivity, and quality.
  • Complete specialized training regarding E.O. 13526 requirements, declassification analysis, recognizing DISA equities, and the Department of Energy Historical Records Restricted Data Reviewer (HRRDR) certification.
  • Adhere strictly to all facility and team guidelines, showing integrity and acting as an exemplary professional representative for RedSky on-site.
