About The Position

This position is based on-site at BAE in Jacksonville, Florida, within Focus Factory Construction Engineering for the Virginia and Columbia Programs. The supervisor contributes to the safe, efficient, and continuous completion of construction activities and supports delivery of ships consistent with design intent. The role leads and grows a team of engineers focused primarily on resolving structural construction and design issues and developing construction and engineering processes that support new engineering software and tools. The supervisor works regularly with Electric Boat Operations at BAE, the Program Office, and Cognizant Engineering departments to resolve issues in time to support an aggressive construction schedule, procurement, and deck and module delivery, with an emphasis on first-time quality. The role briefs management and the Program Office on issues that may delay schedule dates and may brief SUPSHIP or NAVSEA on high-priority concerns and request approval through formal documentation. The supervisor also provides technical and professional guidance to support employee development. The role leads the team by assigning work, providing technical direction, and overseeing safety, technical quality, cost, and schedule performance. Additional duties include approving technical documents, scoping and estimating tasks, staffing to support shipyard construction and delivery schedules, and supporting professional development and preservation of critical technical skills and knowledge. The supervisor fosters a collaborative, hands-on, proactive, and technically rigorous approach to engineering and problem solving in a dynamic, time-sensitive environment. Support outside normal working hours and some travel are required.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent.
At least 5 years of engineering experience.
DOD Secret Security Clearance.
Must work on-site at BAE in Jacksonville, Florida.
Strong written and verbal communication skills to maintain relationships with Electric Boat Operations on site at BAE and Program Offices.
Solid understanding of ship design and construction.
Proven leadership and ability to motivate a team.
Ability to present a positive and professional image to customers.
Demonstrated history of leadership and mentorship.
Time flexibility to support the construction schedule.
Some travel is required.

Nice To Haves

Previous and/or current supervisory experience.
Strong technical understanding of structural engineering principles and experience reviewing and analyzing structural deviations and design.
Knowledge and working experience with lifting and handling.
Knowledge and experience with Electric Boat business systems and tools.
Waterfront or Construction Engineering experience.
Experience with NX/Teamcenter.

Responsibilities
