About The Position

This role involves operating a cutting machine to prepare internal components for sofas, pillows, and chairs by cutting, and potentially gluing, foam and fiber products. The Foam Cutter will organize these materials for the Upholstery Department and assist with maintaining a clean and organized workspace. Responsibilities also include bringing supplies to the department and moving goods to their designated locations. The position requires assisting the Foam and Glue Tech as needed, managing supplies and equipment efficiently, and adhering to company policies and safety standards. The role also involves recommending improvements to production methods and housekeeping, and performing other manufacturing tasks as required to meet production goals.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of manufacturing experience
  • Ability to operate Foam Cutting Machines and Tools.
  • Ability to operate Glue Gun when supporting the Glue Gun Technician.
  • Responsible for utilizing best practices management of foam cutting to yield maximum level of finished foam product/materials.
  • Adapts to change quickly and easily and performs effectively during times of change; demonstrates the ability to multi-task and manages competing priorities effectively

Nice To Haves

  • Foam rubber saw, drill, screw gun, along with other power tools
  • Gerber cutter, digitizing a plus, straight knife cutter
  • Ability to speak, read and write English preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate machines to cut various types of foams
  • Adhering foam padding to furniture pieces utilizing a glue gun when supporting Foam and Glue Tech
  • Manages efficient utilization of supplies, equipment and facilities
  • Maintains compliance with company policy, safety standards, good housekeeping
  • Recommends changes in production methods or material handling procedures
  • Maintain the daily housekeeping of production area including daily emptying of waste cans, sweeping floors, disposing of unwanted parts and fabrics, and placing tools and equipment in their proper location
  • Take finished goods to the next department
  • Pushing, lifting, pulling, gripping and grasping material (ex. wooden frames, foam, fiber, fabrics, tools, fabric rolls, glue and equipment from one area to another
  • Moving finished pieces to their proper location
  • Sort finished goods by style & size
  • Manages efficient utilization of equipment and facilities
  • Maintains compliance with company policy, safety standards, good housekeeping
  • Recommends changes in production methods or material handling procedures
  • Assist in any other manufacturing department where needed, to meet goals
  • Stand/Walk on hard surfaces (concrete floors) for up to 8+ hrs.
  • Understand and practice assembly processes
  • Have an eye for Quality and finishing touches
  • Support and engage in safety programs including Quality, Behavior Based Safety
  • Safely stores and labels all materials
