About The Position

This role is responsible for operating a foam cutting machine and assisting the foam (glue booth) operator as needed. The Foam Cutter prepares internal components for sofas, pillows, and chairs by cutting, gluing (as needed), and organizing foam and fiber products for the Upholstery Department. The position also involves maintaining departmental cleanliness, organizing supplies, and moving goods to their appropriate locations. The role requires understanding and practicing assembly processes, having an eye for quality, and supporting safety programs.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of manufacturing experience
  • Ability to operate Foam Cutting Machines and Tools.
  • Ability to operate Glue Gun when supporting the Glue Gun Technician.
  • Responsible for utilizing best practices management of foam cutting to yield maximum level of finished foam product/materials.
  • Adapts to change quickly and easily and performs effectively during times of change; demonstrates the ability to multi-task and manages competing priorities effectively

Responsibilities

  • Operate machines to cut various types of foams
  • Adhere foam padding to furniture pieces utilizing a glue gun when supporting Foam and Glue Tech.
  • Manage efficient utilization of supplies, equipment, and facilities
  • Maintain compliance with company policy, safety standards, and good housekeeping
  • Recommend changes in production methods or material handling procedures
  • Maintain the daily housekeeping of the production area, including emptying waste cans, sweeping floors, disposing of unwanted parts and fabrics, and placing tools and equipment in their proper location
  • Take finished goods to the next department
  • Pushing, lifting, pulling, gripping, and grasping material (e.g., wooden frames, foam, fiber, fabrics, tools, fabric rolls, glue, and equipment) from one area to another
  • Move finished pieces to their proper location to sort finished goods by style & size
  • Stand/Walk on hard surfaces (concrete floors) for up to 8+ hrs.
  • Understand and practice assembly processes
  • Have an eye for Quality and finishing touches
  • Support and engage in safety programs including Quality, Behavior Based Safety
  • Safely store and label all materials
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure an efficient and effective movement of the department workflow
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and management direction, including all safety policies
  • Assist in any other manufacturing department where needed, to meet goals
