About The Position

The Flower Shop Assistant provides exceptional customer service to families and customers, showing appropriate empathy to those experiencing difficult life events and maintaining a calm demeanor. This is a part-time position of approximately 15–25 hours per week. Scheduled hours generally fall between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM, with occasional weekend shifts as needed. The role supports customer service, sales-floor and inventory operations, floral design and arrangement preparation, shop maintenance, and delivery. With training, the associate places floral tributes at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery and may deliver floral arrangements in a company vehicle.

Requirements

Excellent organizational skills.
Effective communication skills.
Exceptional customer service skills.
Detail-oriented.
High school diploma or equivalent.
At least one year of experience in a retail environment.
Valid driver's license and clean driving record; must be insurable under Cedar Memorial’s policy.
Able to lift up to 40 pounds of force and regularly lift up to 10 pounds of force.
Able to walk, stand, stoop, reach, grab, crouch, pull, kneel, perform repetitive motions, and use a ladder or safety equipment.

Nice To Haves

At least one year of experience as a floral designer.

Responsibilities

Provide exceptional customer service to families and customers selecting The Flower Shop at Cedar Memorial Park.
Answer phone calls, address callers’ needs, or transfer calls to the appropriate associate.
Answer merchandise questions and retrieve items from the sales floor, stock room, or other inventory locations; restock merchandise as directed.
Use the point-of-sale system to record orders and process payments.
Assist with stocking, organizing, and storing live, cut, dried, and artificial floral materials and related decorations; assist with pricing items as directed by management.
Use appropriate mechanics in floral design work and ensure the quality and integrity of designs and materials for delivery.
Assist in selecting appropriate materials for live and artificial arrangements.
Assist with daily maintenance and cleaning of the shop, workroom, cooler, and equipment as directed.
With training, place floral tributes at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Deliver floral arrangements in a company vehicle as needed.
Perform other duties as requested.
Follow safety policies and procedures.
