About The Position

Black & Veatch has an exciting opportunity for a Florida Resilience & Recovery Lead focused on infrastructure resilience, mitigation, preparedness, and long-term recovery from disasters. The advisor will serve as a prominent ambassador for BV's resilience & recovery solutions; drive business development and collaborate on strategy, provide technical expertise and guidance to clients, projects, and teams, and will support our regional leaders as a seamless national team of experts that will fuel the continued growth and success of our resilience practice. With a focus on developing BV’s presence in the resilience & disaster recovery market, this leader will consult with our regional resilience planning, facility, and coastal teams. They will bring a strong network of state and local clients who are procuring resilience and recovery solutions, and they will identify a portfolio of target opportunities that aggregate solutions from across BV, with a dedicated focus on integrated & resilient infrastructure solutions. They will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to help guide the development of solutions and new business, for a variety of municipal, utility, state, and governmental clients, leveraging familiarity with state and local programs as well as FEMA, USACE, HUD CDBG, FERC, DOE and other Federal agencies. They will work directly with both new and existing clients and will help inform capability development through identification of key gaps, leveraging a network of partners to address those gaps.

Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in planning, engineering, science, economics, emergency management, or relevant field from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing.
  • Minimum 10-15 years of related work experience with 10+ years of experience related to resilience, disaster preparedness & recovery, coastal and sea level rise impacts.
  • Experience in a client organization and/or client-facing role.
  • Demonstrated acumen in business development and overall initiative leadership.
  • Experience with Federal approaches and tools to assess risks and provide hazard mitigation, climate adaptation, disaster recovery, and resilience strategic planning and implementation.
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local funding sources related to resilience and nature-based solutions including but not limited to FEMA, U.S. HUD, U.S. EPA, NOAA, U.S. EDA, and NFWF.
  • All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Advance business development and strategy implementation with a diverse network across BV including Regional Resilience Teams, Segment Leaders, Client and Project Directors/Project Managers and Solution Leads from Planning, Environmental, Federal, Heavy Civil infrastructure, and Alternative Funding.
  • Serve as BV’s Florida Resilience and Recovery Lead to city, state, utility, and federal clients through attending meetings and workshops with clients, conferences, and networking events.
  • Leverage professional network and relationships to identify and position BV for new resilience and emergency management opportunities to grow the business, developing significant new business revenue with a focus on county and state-level contracts
  • Provide thought leadership and engage with the external community through direct engagement such as the facilitation of client and stakeholder workshops.
  • Engage with BV’s Resilience Campaign with discreet focus on resilience, mitigation, emergency management and disaster recovery. Support and guide the development of Resilience-related solutions/ studies/ projects.
  • Support recruitment, mentorship, and growth of the team to broaden resilience-related capabilities.
  • Cultivate innovative partnerships to leverage new technologies and approaches and help identify any gaps we may have in our capabilities and be part of a team to help fill those gaps.
  • Support project delivery that may include but not limited to project management, subject matter advisory, technical expertise for the following project types: Climate mitigation/adaptation planning and implementation efforts, Vulnerability assessment for communities, counties, and utilities, Resilient infrastructure implementation, Disaster long-term recovery and resilience planning, Others
