About The Position

The Floral Manager is responsible for leading the efficient, effective, safe, legal, and profitable operations of the Floral Department. This role prioritizes guest relations and satisfaction, aiming to build a reputation for Ultimate Service. The manager coordinates human relations for the department, ensures adherence to company and department policies, and oversees hiring, training, and performance management of team members. They are accountable for meeting financial goals, maintaining product quality and availability, and safeguarding department assets. The position also involves developing team members, supporting division concepts, and ensuring a safe and clean work environment.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in floral retail.
  • Ability to work and communicate with all levels of management and subordinates in a professional manner.
  • Ability to self-motivate, problem-solve and work with minimal supervision.
  • Working knowledge of plants and flowers.
  • Able to work in varied temperatures.
  • Independent mobility within the department - standing and walking for 8-10 hours, squatting and climbing.
  • Be able to perform all other physical aspects of the position including but not limited to bending, squatting, standing, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, and walking.
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 30 lbs. and push and pull up to 100 lbs.
  • Must possess technical skills to perform basic math and computer tasks (Word, Excel, and Email).
  • Ability to work at a fast-paced, but efficient and controlled manner.
  • Must be flexible to work various hours/shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Must attend meetings, including out-of-town, requiring overnight stays.
  • Must be able to transfer to another store within the area.
  • Ability to function as a team member and get along with others.

Responsibilities

  • Acknowledge, greet, and engage guests entering the area or department.
  • Hire, train, and manage the performance of team members.
  • Communicate information distribution to the entire department.
  • Maintain a positive atmosphere, spirit, and morale within the department.
  • Demonstrate effective leadership skills by managing time and delegation.
  • Develop team members and future leaders.
  • Support and execute division concepts and programs.
  • Execute and meet financial goals.
  • Identify areas of opportunity throughout the store and within the department.
  • Ensure quality and consistent product availability and solutions for guests.
  • Safeguard, control, and monitor all department assets, ensuring policies and procedures are implemented.
  • Practice safe work habits, maintain a high level of store cleanliness, organization, and a safe work environment.
  • Oversee that department systems and processes are utilized consistently and correctly.
  • Direct meetings with the department leadership team to plan production and promotion goals.
  • Verify team member schedules against business needs.
  • Coach and discipline team members as necessary.
  • Verify all books and manuals are kept updated.
  • Oversee inventory process and reporting.
  • Approve all purchase orders and maintain adequate levels.
  • Order and adjust standing orders for flowers, plants, and related merchandise and supplies.
  • Assist and lead designers and sales clerks in completing their tasks.
  • Demonstrate good conflict management skills.
  • Perform other duties assigned by upper management.
