About The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated, organized, and results-oriented Flooring Project Manager / Sales with a strong background in the flooring and/or construction industry. This position combines project management, flooring sales, design, customer service, estimating, and installation coordination. The ideal candidate is confident, professional, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects and priorities. This individual will work closely with residential and builder clients, installers, tradespeople, vendors, architects, engineers, and internal team members to ensure projects are properly estimated, sold, scheduled, executed, and completed on time and within budget. The position requires a consultative approach to sales, strong communication and organizational skills, and the ability to take ownership of projects from the initial customer interaction through final completion and billing.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in flooring, construction, project management, sales, design, or a related industry.
  • Experience managing construction or flooring projects from start to finish preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, plans, specifications, and project documentation.
  • Knowledge of general construction methodologies and the ability to coordinate flooring installations with other trades.
  • Strong understanding of flooring products, installation methods, and/or design principles preferred.
  • Strong sales, negotiation, presentation, and closing skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, telephone, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong customer service and relationship-building abilities.
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong prioritization, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and adapt to frequent changes.
  • Ability to strategize, anticipate potential issues, and remain proactive throughout a project.
  • Ability to exercise sound business judgment and make decisions independently.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to effectively coordinate and motivate installers and other team members.
  • Computer proficient, including internet, email, Microsoft Word, Excel, databases, and other business software.
  • Proficiency with graphic design tools or design software is preferred.
  • Willingness and ability to become proficient in RFMS.
  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience in sales, marketing, flooring, construction, project management, or a related field preferred.
  • Associate degree from an accredited two-year college or equivalent combination of education and work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage flooring, remodeling (kitchen & bath) projects from initial sale through installation, completion, and final billing.
  • Take overall responsibility for the successful initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, control, and closure of assigned projects.
  • Develop project schedules and coordinate installation activities to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Schedule installers and allocate responsibilities based on project requirements.
  • Create clear and accurate work orders for every project and review the scope of work with installers.
  • Supervise and coordinate installers, laborers, mechanics, and other trades as necessary.
  • Conduct site visits and job checks to monitor progress, quality, and adherence to project requirements.
  • Attend client and job meetings and provide accurate project updates and progress reports.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, builders, general contractors, and other trades to resolve project issues and ensure proper sequencing of work.
  • Review project scope and identify changes, discrepancies, or potential issues before they affect schedule or budget.
  • Monitor materials, equipment, samples, and product availability and proactively address shortages or delays.
  • Evaluate project progress and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and according to customer and company requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable health and safety standards and report issues promptly.
  • Identify potential project risks and take proactive steps to minimize delays, errors, and additional costs.
  • Prepare accurate estimates, proposals, work orders, and customer documentation.
  • Enter and maintain accurate project and customer information in RFMS.
  • Create accurate orders in RFMS and manage related processes, including job costing.
  • Maintain current project information and documentation throughout the life of each project.
  • Monitor open quotes and follow up on outstanding opportunities.
  • Review sample check-out logs and maintain accurate records.
  • Complete billing promptly upon project completion.
  • Maintain accurate records related to project scope, pricing, materials, labor, changes, and completion.
  • Develop and maintain proficiency in RFMS and other company software systems.
  • Prepare daily task lists and delegate responsibilities as appropriate.
  • Organize and lead regular team meetings as needed.
  • Communicate project changes and update requirements to all appropriate parties.
  • Greeting customers promptly and provide knowledgeable, professional assistance.
  • Answer incoming calls and return customer calls in a timely manner.
  • Assess customer needs and recommend appropriate flooring products and solutions.
  • Assist residential and builder clients with flooring selections, product specifications, and design decisions.
  • Provide complimentary estimates to retail customers.
  • Conduct measurements and prepare accurate quotes within established timelines.
  • Follow up on quotes, customer questions, and outstanding opportunities to secure deposits and move projects forward.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, builders, contractors, designers, and other industry professionals.
  • Demonstrate strong negotiation and closing skills while maintaining a customer-focused approach.
  • Maintain showroom appearance, displays, samples, and sample check-out records.
  • Communicate with customers throughout the project to ensure expectations are clearly understood and met.
  • Send customer satisfaction communications and address concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Stay ahead of potential problems and proactively develop solutions.
  • Exercise sound business judgment when making decisions related to customers, projects, scheduling, materials, and costs.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and empower others to successfully complete their responsibilities.
