About The Position

Floor Technicians at Velociti are responsible for the overall floor maintenance of hard surfaces and carpet, including tasks such as stripping, waxing, buffing, shampooing, extraction, and bonneting. This role covers various areas including offices, corridors, lobbies, entrances, stairwells, and other public spaces like break rooms. The position requires adherence to safety rules, collaboration with team members, maintaining a clean work area, and following all company policies and procedures. Effective communication with supervisors, co-workers, and customers is essential, as is the ability to fill in during staff shortages and support shift leads with punch-list items. Technicians must use proper personal protective equipment, present a professional appearance, and understand customer service and satisfaction, reporting systems, and the environment. Building trust is a key aspect of the role.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent education.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in floor care.
  • Knowledge of how to strip, wax, and burnish floors with minimal to no assistance.
  • Knowledge and experience operating various pieces of equipment such as high-speed buffers, extractors, wet vacs, pressure washers, and auto scrubbers.
  • Must be a team player and committed to working in a quality environment.
  • Demonstrates exceptional customer service skills.
  • Willingness to take directions from the Facility Manager, Key Account Manager, or District Manager.

Nice To Haves

  • Janitorial or laborer experience in a facility setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance checks on all equipment before use.
  • Secure the work area and post safety notices before beginning work.
  • Perform floor care, including routine mopping (dry and damp), buffing, and burnishing on hard surface floors and stairwells.
  • Perform vacuuming, shampooing, bonneting, and extracting carpets, stairwells, and upholstery.
  • Perform wall cleaning.
  • Perform dusting (high and low).
  • Perform routine restroom cleaning.
  • Perform routine office and break room cleaning.
  • Maintain floor care equipment.
  • Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform work assignments in a team with other employees.
  • Maintain clean work area.
  • Follow all company procedures, policies, and rules.
  • Take direction and respond to supervision.
  • Communicate professionally with the lead, supervisor, co-workers, managers, and customers.
  • Fill in during staff shortage.
  • Support shift lead in completing punch-list items.
  • Use proper personal protective equipment.
  • Present a professional appearance and conduct.
  • Understand customer service and satisfaction.
  • Understand reporting systems and the environment.
  • Instill trust.
  • Build respectful relationships with all teammates and guests.
  • Coordinate activities with other internal departments.
  • Participate in team meetings.
