About The Position

Under the leadership of the Operations Manager, the Floor Technician will be responsible for the overall floor maintenance of various floor surfaces and carpets. The Floor Technician will perform stripping, waxing, buffing, shampooing, extraction, and bonneting of areas to include offices, classrooms, corridors, lobbies, entrances, conference rooms, and other public areas such as cafeterias and restrooms. The Floor Technician must be knowledgeable of proper floor cleaning techniques on various floor surfaces. Additional duties may be assigned by the Operations Manager.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in floor care.
  • Must be able to pass Criminal Background Check and Drug Screen.
  • Motivated with the desire to help others, particularly those with disabilities.
  • Ability to effectively relate to persons with various types of disabilities, personalities, and cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to work with others in a team approach with management and janitorial services.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with others.
  • Dependability and Punctuality is a must.

Responsibilities

  • Perform stripping, waxing, buffing, shampooing, extraction, and bonneting of various floor surfaces and carpets in offices, classrooms, corridors, lobbies, entrances, conference rooms, cafeterias, and restrooms.
  • Use specialized power equipment such as Auto Scrubber, High Speed Buffer, Banisher, Carpet Shampooer, Hot Water Extractor, Grout Hog, and Wet/Dry Vacuum.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and contract procedures.
  • Perform preventative maintenance checks on all equipment prior to use.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of cleaning solutions and chemical preparation.
  • Secure work area and post proper safety notices before beginning work.
  • Perform routine dust mopping and mopping (high/low), buffing, and burnishing on hard surface floors.
  • Perform routine vacuuming, shampooing, bonneting, and extracting carpet, walls, and upholstery.
  • Perform routine restroom, office, and/or classroom cleaning.
  • Maintain floor care equipment.
  • Ensure removal and proper disposal of chemical cleaning solutions.
  • Other duties as assigned by Contract Supervisor.
