About The Position
Controlled Contamination Services is a national provider of facility solutions, technical services, and decontamination services for clients in the Life Sciences, Technology, IT, Defense, and Aerospace industries. The Floor Technician performs periodic advanced floor-care duties, including stripping, dressing, buffing, and waxing hard floors; carpet extraction and shampooing; terrazzo maintenance; carpet cleaning; pressure washing; special cleanings; and other assigned projects. The position is located at Elbit Systems VA in Roanoke, Virginia, and is a full-time night-shift role.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED, or one year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- One year of experience in cleaning and/or janitorial work.
- Familiarity with safety requirements, equipment use, scheduling, and training.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small-group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.
- Become familiar with cleaning chemical components and safety requirements.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to stand, walk, lift or climb, talk and hear, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands or arms.
- Ability to lift or exert force up to 40 pounds.
- Close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Responsibilities
- Vacuum, clean, and extract carpeted floor surfaces.
- Dry mop and wet mop hard-surface floors.
- Mix chemicals needed to perform duties.
- Perform periodic routine maintenance on equipment used for assigned tasks.
- Keep equipment clean and report malfunctions or safety hazards to the Supervisor.
- Spray buff hard-surface floors.
- Refinish hard surfaces.
- Perform machine pressure washing and reclaim water.
- Perform stripping, dressing, buffing, and waxing of hard floors; carpet extraction and shampooing; terrazzo maintenance; carpet cleaning; and special cleanings.
- Perform other duties as assigned or defined by the supervisor.
