About The Position

This position involves applying appropriate cleaning techniques, procedures, and effective use of equipment and products to a wide range of surfaces. The role includes stripping and refinishing floors, burnishing and buffing floors, shampooing carpets and upholstery, as well as sweeping, dust mopping, damp/wet mopping, dusting, polishing, scrubbing, vacuuming, and waste removal. Additionally, the role involves replenishing supplies such as paper towels, toilet paper, and hand soaps, and cleaning up body fluids and body waste. Assignments may include working off 6-foot ladders and using simple hand tools to exchange window drapes, curtains, venetian blinds, cubical curtains, shower curtains, and washing glass, walls, and ceiling vents. The Facilitator assumes a leadership role on their weekend rotation. Responsibilities include communicating effectively with all departments, ensuring all assigned staff are on-duty, completing tardy/absent reports, adjusting staffing due to call-outs, making rounds to observe housekeeping conditions, and responding to all radio calls. The role also involves completing assigned reports (e.g., rounds, accident reports) and forwarding them to the supervisor, and reaching out to the Supervisor On Call for support as needed. Perform laundry services including linen inventory and delivery to units, washing, drying and storing cleaning cloths, and managing the clothing room. Assist in storing/releasing resident belongings and completing related paperwork. The position requires familiarity with all housekeeping equipment and processes to assist and problem-solve arising issues. The assigned space must be kept in a clean, orderly manner. Equipment used is cleaned after each use and properly stored. Equipment malfunctions and repair needs are brought to the supervisor's attention. All functions of the job are performed by adhering to department and facility policies and procedures. The role maintains records/reports/data associated with routine and non-routine floor, carpet, and other furnishings maintenance schedules. Information gathered will reflect the frequency of accomplished activities and productivity requirements. Performs other duties as may be assigned that are within Environmental Services’ mission and as situations warrant in meeting the overall needs of the facility. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
