About The Position

Under direct supervision and direction, the Floor Porter performs tasks involved in a complete floor maintenance program, transports supplies and materials, and assists with general quality maintenance services. The role also assists with maintenance and repair of the physical plant, grounds, equipment, and building systems, helping provide a clean, orderly, and safe environment for residents and staff. The position is at Orchard Grove, a 130-bed facility providing short-term rehabilitation, long-term care, and secured memory care. The schedule is 24 hours per week, Tuesday–Friday or Monday–Thursday, with shifts of 10 a.m.–4 p.m. or 2 p.m.–8 p.m.

Requirements

Ability to operate floor-care equipment and knowledge of floor-care techniques.
Ability to cooperate in assisting others and work as part of a team.
Patience, tact, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude toward residents and their support networks.
Ability to read and understand labels, safety instructions, and department policies and procedures in English.
Ability to visually assess all aspects of the facility.
Ability to distinguish smells and temperatures and to hear and respond to pages.
Ability to walk, reach, bend, lift, grasp, pull, stretch, stoop, climb, twist, work in tight quarters or high places, and use gross motor coordination, balance, and fine hand coordination, especially when operating machinery and tools.
Ability to lift and move heavy items weighing approximately 50–75 pounds.
