About The Position

The Floor Manager assists the House Manager with the management of Front of House operations, with a special emphasis on events and services for guests with disabilities. This role involves informing the Event Manager on Duty (MOD) of any issues needing resolution and responding to MOD requests. The Floor Manager supervises volunteer staff and handles all needs for guests with disabilities, including policies and procedures for ticketing, entrance/exiting, and overall ADA compliance. Responsibilities also include patrolling and maintaining the front-of-house area of the Richmond Theaters, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and security. The Floor Manager assists the House Manager with keeping detailed logs and reports of incidents, ensuring all incidents are reported to the Event MOD, and training staff on implementing the emergency plan. The role also involves assisting as needed in all areas of operations and performing other assigned tasks.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or G.E.D. required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current management principles and practices including supervisory skills, budgeting and training and scheduling a part-time staff.
  • In-depth knowledge of ADA code requirements.
  • Knowledge of computer operations, radio communication equipment, and building security functions.
  • Ability to speak, read and write English.
  • Ability to walk freely up and down steps.
  • Ability to manage the volunteer staff.
  • Ability to assess situations and respond in an appropriate manner.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the House Manager with management of the Front of House operations with special emphasis on events and guests with disabilities services.
  • Inform Event MOD of any issues that need to be resolved and respond to MOD requests.
  • Supervise volunteer staff.
  • Handle all needs for guests with disabilities including policies and procedures for ticketing, entrance/exiting and overall ADA compliance.
  • Patrol and maintain front-of-house area of the Richmond Theaters, ensuring that all front-of-house areas are clean, safe and secure.
  • Assist the House Manager with keeping detailed logs and reports of incidents and related activities and making sure that all incidents are reported to Event MOD.
  • Assist the House Manager with training the staff on implementing the emergency plan.
  • Assist as needed in all areas of operations.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.
  • Manage subordinate crew during theater events.
  • Training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
