About The Position

The Floor Care Technician supports a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for residents, families, and staff in our long-term care community. This role is responsible for the proper cleaning, maintenance, and restoration of all flooring surfaces while following infection control standards and ensuring resident safety at all times.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of proper floor care techniques and equipment
  • Understanding of infection control principles and resident safety practices
  • Ability to work respectfully around elderly residents and staff
  • Dependable attendance and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Valid driver's license

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Prior floor care or environmental services experience preferred (healthcare or long-term care a plus)

Responsibilities

  • Clean, maintain, and restore floors throughout resident rooms, hallways, dining areas, therapy spaces, and common areas
  • Strip, wax, seal, and buff floors according to facility schedules and procedures
  • Perform carpet cleaning, shampooing, and spot treatment
  • Operate floor care equipment such as buffers, auto scrubbers, burnishers, and extractors
  • Use cleaning chemicals safely, following SDS guidelines and infection prevention protocols
  • Place caution signage and take extra safety precautions in resident-occupied areas
  • Coordinate work schedules to minimize disruption to residents and clinical staff
  • Maintain floor care equipment and report service or repair needs
  • Ensure compliance with long-term care regulations, sanitation standards, and facility policies
