About The Position

The Floor Care Technician performs scheduled and requested cleaning and maintenance of hospital floors in accordance with departmental and hospital standards. The role also assists with emergency spill cleanup, responding within five minutes using prescribed methods. Duties may include dispensing cleaning chemicals according to manufacturer recommendations; sweeping, mopping, detailing corners, burnishing, shower scrubbing, stripping, and waxing floors; maintaining tools and equipment daily; and ensuring adequate supplies are available for daily responsibilities. The technician works to meet or exceed customer expectations specified in the Service Quality Agreement (SQA).

Successful candidates must undergo respiratory fit testing in compliance with occupational health and safety standards.

Requirements

• One year of experience in floor care cleaning and maintenance is required; satisfactory completion of the department’s formal floor care training program may substitute for work experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform cleaning duties in assigned areas daily according to standard operating and approved infection control procedures.
• Take ownership of responsibilities in the assigned zone and other designated areas.
• Demonstrate accountability for customer service and professional behavior through personal work ethic, teamwork, and effective communication.
• When assigned, locate, visually inspect, test the functionality of, and clean patient equipment.
• Clean and maintain hospital floors, including sweeping, mopping, detailing corners, burnishing, shower scrubbing, stripping, and waxing.
• Assist with emergency spill cleanup and respond within five minutes using prescribed methods.
• Dispense cleaning chemicals according to manufacturer recommendations.
• Maintain tools and equipment daily and ensure adequate supply inventories.
