The Flood Mitigation Evaluation (FME) Department in the Flood Planning (FP) Division of the Office of Planning (OOP) at the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) is seeking a highly motivated individual to join their team. This role offers the opportunity to work with flood risk reduction efforts throughout Texas. The FME program focuses on conducting FME studies for smaller and rural communities in Texas, as selected by the regional flood planning groups. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of and experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, mapping, planning, design, and construction of flood risk reduction projects. This position requires coordination and communication with a variety of communities, project stakeholders, management, and others as needed. The role involves performing moderately complex (journey-level) to advanced and/or managerial (senior-level) Engineering or Project Management work. This includes technical analysis and engineering evaluation of watershed study reports. The position will manage engineering consultant contracts and oversee project schedules, budgets, change orders, and documents for TWDB-funded flood control planning projects identified by Regional Flood Planning Groups (RFPGs). Responsibilities include coordinating, guiding, tracking, reviewing, and overseeing Flood Management Evaluations (FME) performed by contractors. The role also involves representing TWDB at assigned meetings and engagements, serving as an information source for team members and other staff, and providing training for TWDB staff and applicants on TWDB processes. The position operates under general to minimal supervision, with considerable latitude for initiative and independent judgment, and may involve training others. The role reports to the Manager of the Flood Management Evaluation Department.
