The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) is seeking a highly motivated individual for the Flood Mitigation Evaluation (FME) Department within the Flood Planning (FP) Division of the Office of Planning (OOP). This role offers the opportunity to work with flood risk reduction efforts throughout Texas, focusing on FME studies for smaller and rural communities. The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, mapping, planning, design, and construction of flood risk reduction projects. This position involves coordinating and communicating with various communities, project stakeholders, management, and others as needed. The work involves moderately complex to advanced engineering or project management tasks, including technical analysis and engineering evaluation of watershed study reports. Responsibilities include managing engineering consultant contracts, overseeing project schedules, budgets, change orders, and documents for TWDB-funded flood control planning projects. The role also involves coordinating, guiding, tracking, reviewing, and overseeing FME studies performed by contractors, representing TWDB at meetings, and serving as an information source and trainer for staff and applicants. The position operates under general to minimal supervision with considerable latitude for initiative and independent judgment, and may involve training others. The role reports to the Manager of the Flood Management Evaluation Department.
