About The Position

This program offers paid training in Mammography, initially focusing on screening mammograms. Following the training, there is a 2-year commitment to the company. While no prior Mammography experience is required, candidates must possess an ARRT certification in radiography to be cross-trained. The position is primarily based in Pineville but will involve floating to other locations in the southern region, with mileage reimbursement according to company policy. The Mammography Technologist I is responsible for performing technical activities related to screening mammography procedures to obtain high-quality breast images and contributing to an exceptional patient care experience.

Requirements

  • ARRT registered in Radiology
  • ARRT X-Ray licensed technologist
  • BLS, CPR certified
  • Graduate of a 24-month AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology
  • ARRT advanced certification in mammography must be obtained within 1 year of hire
  • BLS CPR certification
  • Computer literate
  • Ability to read and interpret medical reports
  • Anatomic knowledge of breast tissue pattern and related structures as well as breast pathology and treatment of breast pathology
  • Knowledge of radiographic technique and positioning
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent customer service, both internal and external
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills

Responsibilities

  • Operate mammographic and other imaging equipment/devices in accordance with organizational protocols
  • Position patients, using immobilization when necessary
  • Evaluate radiographs for image quality, adjusting position, density, or contrast and obtaining additional images as needed
  • Explain screening procedures to patients
  • Prepare exam rooms and equipment for studies, ensuring cleanliness and adequate stock/inventory of clinical supplies
  • Obtain, verify, and document all pertinent information for patient visits, including patient clinical history and prior imaging
  • Identify care requirements relative to each patient’s age-specific needs
  • Use radiation safety measures and protective devices to comply with government regulations and ensure the safety of patients and staff
  • Assist with onboarding and training new Mammography Technician I’s
  • Other duties as assigned
