About The Position

As a Counter Sales Associate, you are the first point of contact for customers entering our branches and represent the face of Airgas. Your role involves selling industrial and specialty gases, welding equipment, and hard goods. You will handle inquiries from walk-in and phone customers, and provide additional warehouse support as needed. This position requires moderate travel within an assigned territory to provide coverage for various branches. Airgas is committed to respecting, honoring, and valuing diversity. This role is crucial in partnering with customers to provide industrial, medical, and specialty gases, welding equipment, and other essential supplies, acting as a trusted guide to advise them on the best tools and materials for their projects. You will demonstrate equipment use, share insights on product quality, and help customers pioneer new solutions. Your impact extends across your assigned territory, traveling to different branches to offer seamless coverage and support. You will be responsible for adhering to company policies, including safety and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), to ensure a secure environment. Providing excellent customer service to both internal and external partners is key to fostering understanding and long-term relationships. You will also manage order entry, process transactions, assist with deposit reconciliation, and coordinate with customers and team members via phone, email, and in person to provide information on costs and delivery. Contributing to an outgoing call strategy is expected to support branch growth. Additionally, you will coordinate the transfer of merchandise between locations, maintain a positive work atmosphere, and stock shelves while maintaining welcoming showroom displays.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in product, warehouse, or sales environments (or an equivalent combination of education and unique life experience).
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting.
  • Attention to detail in handling transactions.
  • Availability for occasional overtime when the team needs extra support.
  • Must be able to operate in a drug-free workplace.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in industrial retail, inside sales, or inventory control is a plus.
  • A background in gas, welding, or safety supplies is a wonderful asset.
  • Familiarity with SAP, Google, or MS Office Applications.
  • A detailed understanding of SAP and PROS functionalities.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and warmly with a wide variety of people from different backgrounds.

  • Coordinate cylinder movement and pallet organization.
