Floating Counter Sales Representative

About The Position

As a Counter Sales Associate, you are the first point of contact for customers entering our branches and represent the face of Airgas. Your primary role is to sell industrial, medical, and specialty gases, welding equipment, and hard goods. You will handle inquiries and concerns from both walk-in and phone-in customers, and also provide support in the warehouse as needed. This position involves moderate travel within an assigned territory to provide coverage for branches as required. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, with no weekend work expected. Airgas provides necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in product, warehouse, or sales environments.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting.
  • Attention to detail in handling transactions.
  • Availability for occasional overtime when the team needs extra support.
  • Must be able to operate in a drug-free workplace.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in industrial retail, inside sales, or inventory control is a plus.
  • A background in gas, welding, or safety supplies is a wonderful asset.
  • Familiarity with SAP, Google, or MS Office Applications.
  • A detailed understanding of SAP and PROS functionalities.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and warmly with a wide variety of people from different backgrounds.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with customers to provide industrial, medical, and specialty gases, welding equipment, and other essential supplies.
  • Serve as a trusted guide, advising customers on the tools, hardware, and materials needed for their projects.
  • Demonstrate equipment use and share insights on product quality.
  • Travel to various branches within an assigned territory to provide seamless coverage and support.
  • Adhere to company policies, including safety and the use of personal protective equipment.
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external partners, fostering understanding and long-term relationships.
  • Ensure all required paperwork is accurately completed, including coding, costing, and pricing.
  • Coordinate via phone, e-mail, and in person with customers and team members to provide helpful information on costs and delivery.
  • Contribute to an outgoing call strategy to support branch growth and success.
  • Coordinate the transfer of merchandise between locations to meet customer needs.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a supportive manner.
  • Stock shelves and maintain welcoming showroom displays.
  • Coordinate cylinder movement and pallet organization.
