About The Position

The Floater position is responsible for producing a quality product through consistent extruder feed and product packaging. This role requires working effectively in a team environment to ensure all insulation products are packaged correctly and meet customer requirements and specifications. The Floater must be adaptable and capable of performing job functions in both the Sheet Line and TCV departments, covering both packaging and extrusion duties as needed.

Requirements

Visual observation and manual dexterity when packing product into cardboard boxes.
Ability to ensure print is legible and boxes are properly assembled and labeled.
Ability to assemble, prepare, label and stage boxes for finish product.
Ability to maneuver and use a manual pallet jack.
Ability to follow directions and work well with others in a team-like setting.
Ability to maintain a clear trim area, change, and replace scrap bags.
Ability to weigh, record and tag each Trim Bag with the correct information.
Ability to perform necessary machinery adjustments.
Ability to verbally communicate with team members.
High degree of mental competence to make decisions quickly and react to problems.
High degree of attention and concentration to maintain quality and consistency of the product.
Ability to pack two lines simultaneously depending on the speed or size of the tubes.
Ability to ensure product being packed is not damaged.
Ability to place locking pins or zip ties in divider bars to avoid tube damage during transportation.
Ability to communicate quality issues to the line operator.
Mechanical skills and knowledge to help set up extruder.
Ability to feed compound and extrudate in the extruder.
Ability to maintain proper talc level and consistent talc flow.
Ability to perform routinely talc inspections, mark and announce any talc holes.
Ability to organize batches by MCR, MaxP, or ML.
Reading, writing and basic math skills.

Responsibilities

Produce a quality product by means of consistent Extruder feed and Product Packaging.
Ensure all insulation products are packaged correctly and meet all customers’ requirements and specifications according to written and verbal instructions.
Be fluid within Packaging and Extrusion job functions in both Sheet Line and TCV departments.
Visually observe and use manual dexterity when packing product into cardboard boxes, ensuring print is legible and boxes are properly assembled and labeled.
Assemble, prepare, label, and stage boxes for finish product.
Maneuver and use a manual pallet jack to transport and set Sheet Roll Master Rolls.
Follow directions and work well with others in a team-like setting.
Maintain a clear trim area, change, and replace scrap bags. Weigh, record, and tag each Trim Bag with the correct information.
Perform necessary machinery adjustments to ensure a quality product is being processed.
Verbally communicate with team members to prevent and correct quality related issues using company telephones and intercom system, if necessary.
Make quick decisions and react to problems when they occur.
Maintain a high degree of attention and concentration to maintain quality and consistency of the product.
Pack product into cardboard boxes, ensuring print is legible and boxes are labeled and stamped.
Pack two lines simultaneously depending on the speed or size of the tubes.
Ensure product being packed is not damaged while being placed in the box or SSPT bin.
When packing SSPT material, place locking pins or zip ties in divider bars to avoid tube damage during transportation.
Communicate quality issues (talc, ID, wall, skin) to the line operator as needed.
Verbally communicate with Packaging Team members to maintain an efficient process flow.
Verbally communicate with Extrusion Team members to prevent and correct quality related issues.
Inspect the quality and consistency of the Insulation Product while packaging.
Use mechanical skills and knowledge to help set up the extruder.
Feed compound and extrudate into the extruder, moving and switching mill buggies.
Maintain proper talc level and consistent talc flow (TCV only).
Perform routine talc inspections, mark and announce any talc holes using the intercom system (TCV only).
Organize batches by MCR, MaxP, or ML.
Set temperatures, adjust speeds, and document all information to ensure that the product is processed correctly to meet customer specifications according to written and verbal instructions.
