About The Position

Greater Iowa Credit Union is seeking a Float Teller to assist members with their financial transactions, including paying and receiving cash and other negotiable instruments. This role involves traveling to various branches in the South Region (Waukee, West Des Moines, Ankeny, East Des Moines, Indianola). The Float Teller will be responsible for ensuring efficient, effective, and professional teller operations by processing member transactions such as deposits, withdrawals, and loan payments, as well as selling money orders and other negotiable items. The position also involves presenting and explaining credit union products and services, cross-selling to meet member needs, and maintaining knowledge of relevant regulatory compliance. Balancing the cash drawer, investigating discrepancies, and performing related duties as assigned are also key aspects of this role.

Requirements

  • One month to twelve months of similar or related experience.
  • A high school education or GED.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Detail oriented and accurate to prove cash at end of day and avoid errors on member accounts.
  • Above average math skills.
  • Proven track record of strong member service skills.
  • Diplomacy.
  • Professionalism in appearance, dress and attitude.
  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, reach, kneel, push and pull.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 20-25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Receiving and processing member financial transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, and loan payments.
  • Selling money orders and other negotiable items and transferring amounts from member accounts as directed.
  • Ensuring all teller functions are performed correctly and in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Welcoming members and providing routine information concerning services, and directing members to appropriate departments.
  • Presenting and explaining credit union products and services and cross-selling them to meet member needs.
  • Maintaining working knowledge of regulatory compliance related to the teller area.
  • Balancing cash drawer and daily transactions.
  • Investigating out-of-balance conditions and balancing errors and keeping management informed.
  • Performing related duties as required or assigned.
