About The Position

The Traveling Banking Specialist I—commonly known in the industry as a bank teller or retail banking associate—is a key client-facing role responsible for delivering an exceptional experience across multiple branch locations throughout the Greater Los Angeles area. In this retail banking role, you will support various branches as needed, performing financial transactions typically associated with a bank teller position while providing a high-touch, relationship-focused client experience. This role requires flexibility, adaptability, and a strong commitment to maintaining consistent service excellence across locations. At First Bank, we use the title Specialist intentionally. You are not just processing transactions—you are building relationships, identifying client needs, and connecting clients to banking solutions that support their financial well-being.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • At least six months of relevant work experience preferred; prior experience in banking, retail banking, or a bank teller role is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to quickly adjust to different branch environments, teams, and client demographics while maintaining performance and professionalism.
  • Ability to process financial transactions with a high degree of accuracy and accountability.
  • Ability to build trust, understand client needs, and deliver a consistent experience across multiple locations.
  • Ability to guide clients in using digital banking tools and resources effectively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage clients and collaborate with varying teams.
  • Ability to recognize and respond to potentially fraudulent situations using sound judgment.
  • Ability to succeed in a dynamic, fast-paced retail banking environment with changing priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver a consistent, high-quality client experience across multiple branch locations by greeting clients warmly, building rapport quickly, and reinforcing First Bank’s service standards regardless of location.
  • Process a full range of client transactions—including deposits, withdrawals, payments, and check cashing—with accuracy and efficiency. Perform responsibilities aligned with bank teller functions within a fast-paced retail banking environment.
  • Provide operational and client service support to various branches based on business needs, staffing gaps, or peak periods. Quickly adapt to different teams, client bases, and branch environments.
  • Educate clients on banking technology and self-service tools, including online banking, bill pay, ATMs, debit cards, and other digital resources to enhance convenience and accessibility.
  • Adhere to all bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include balancing teller drawers, supporting ATM and vault functions (as applicable), maintaining dual control, placing appropriate holds, and promptly resolving or escalating discrepancies.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of bank products and services to effectively support client needs and ensure consistency across all branch interactions.
  • Identify opportunities to deepen client relationships by referring appropriate banking products and services to internal partners. Support branch-level goals through meaningful client engagement.
