About The Position

Baptist Health is seeking a Float Physician Practice Medical Assistant for their Ortho West Kendall location. This role involves assisting physicians in the examination and treatment of patients, including patient interviews, taking vital signs, and accurately recording patient information in EMR and/or charts. The Medical Assistant will also be responsible for drawing blood samples and preparing specimens for laboratory analysis. The position offers a sign-on bonus and is full-time, with working hours from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.

Requirements

  • High School, Cert, GED, Trn, Exper.
  • Must have at least one of the following required licenses/certifications: MA, CNA, LPN, EMT.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
  • CNA, LPN, EMT license must be from Florida.
  • Professional communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Compassionate demeanor, excellent customer service skills and high ethical standards.
  • HIPAA/OSHA compliance required.
  • Ability to work in a high volume, fast paced environment efficiently.
  • Proficient in computer applications and typing skills.
  • Proficient in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
  • Minimum Required Experience: 3 Years

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual preferred.
  • Knowledge of Health Care regulatory guidelines and medical Terminology a plus.
  • Medical Assistants with a Certificate or Diploma of Completion of a Medical Assistant training program hired after 7/1/16 or foreign Medical Doctor with a foreign medical doctor diploma hired after 5/1/17 will have up to 6 months from start of employment with BHSF to obtain Medical Assistant Certification.
  • For Primary Care Practices, EKG and Phlebotomy Certifications are also required for employees with the CNA license only.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of the physician(s) and office manager.
  • Conducting patient interviews.
  • Measuring vital signs (i.e.: pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height).
  • Accurately and appropriately recording patient information in EMR and/or patients‘ charts.
  • Drawing and collecting blood samples from patients.
  • Preparing specimens for laboratory analysis.
