As a Float Phlebotomist/Medical Assistant, also known internally as a One Medical Flex Lab Services Specialist/Member Support Specialist, you will provide exceptional patient care and phlebotomy support. You will also receive training to offer other clinical support services, such as EKGs and injections. With a strong focus on service and human connection, your role will involve removing barriers to care. You will be the initial point of contact for patients, responsible for maintaining the office space, and providing additional support as directed by the Practice Coordinator, Operations Manager, or providers. This role supports multiple offices within a market, requiring you to be a strong team player with innovative problem-solving skills, empathy, focus, and compassion in all interactions. You will utilize tactful interpersonal skills at the front desk and in the lab, thrive in a feedback-oriented culture, and be adaptable to the needs of patients and the team.

Requirements

  • At least 6 months of autonomous phlebotomy experience
  • Strong customer service skills, including ability to establish and maintain effective customer relationships and deliver customer-centric solutions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Proficiency in computer technology such as typing, navigating the internet and using multiple software systems simultaneously
  • Experience working on collaborative, diverse, multi-disciplinary teams
  • A proven ability to display confidence and instill trust with patients while delivering individualized, human-centered, customer-focused care
  • A proven track record of persisting through change, consistently stepping up to take action on challenges, and learning quickly and effectively when faced with new situations or tasks
  • Successful completion of One Medical clinical training and state required education and/or certifications within first six months of employment (One Medical sponsored)
  • Willingness to obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 60 days of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Phlebotomy License preferred
  • Additional experience with remote teams a plus

Responsibilities

  • Use C-I-CARE framework in all patient interactions to ensure a fluid and positive in-office experience.
  • Manage patient intake, same-day schedule, and follow-up scheduling.
  • Possess strong knowledge of billing and insurance.
  • Monitor patient feedback and assist with outreach.
  • Provide venipuncture services for a diverse patient population (pediatrics to geriatrics).
  • Perform and assist with non-blood specimen collection.
  • Maintain high standards of in-office care through proper specimen labeling, handling, and processing.
  • Manage inventory upkeep and tool sterilization.
  • Answer patient messages and follow up on lab cases.
  • Assist providers and virtual medical team with clerical duties, including biometric screening forms, medical record and consult review, billing inquiries, and DOH reporting.
  • Perform all front-of-house duties, including check-in/check-out, insurance verification, paperwork, prepping tests, and meeting service level expectations.
  • Contribute to team development through rounding, team huddles, problem-solving, and supporting providers with ad hoc requests.
  • Master the technology suite, including Slack, G-suite, Zoom, and the Electronic Medical Record System (1Life).
  • Perform opening and closing duties, including daily office upkeep, maintaining patient and employee-facing spaces, restocking supplies, and organization.
  • Upon completion of training, perform and assist with extended scope duties such as EKGs/ECGs, vitals, ear lavages, vaccines, PPD tests, and swabs.
