About The Position

The Float Pharmacist creates an outstanding customer experience and inspires associates to provide excellent customer service. The role maintains a safe, clean pharmacy environment, achieves department sales and profit goals, controls quality assurance standards and expenses, and schedules and staffs technicians to meet business needs. The pharmacist monitors department functions and demonstrates the company’s values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety. The pharmacist fulfills prescription needs with a focus on accuracy, administers vaccines as needed, and provides patient counseling and pharmaceutical care. The role ensures pharmacy operations comply with applicable laws and company policies, maintains pharmacy records and controlled-substance security, and oversees inventory, equipment, sanitation, scheduling, signage, and product returns. The pharmacist also maintains professional relationships with customers, associates, and vendors, keeps work areas clean and organized, and continues to develop pharmacy knowledge and skills.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy.
Current state pharmacist licensure in good standing.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Knowledge of basic math, including counting, addition, and subtraction.
Ability to handle stressful situations.

Nice To Haves

One year of retail experience.
A second language, in speaking, reading, and/or writing.

Responsibilities

Fulfill customers’ prescription needs while concentrating on the accuracy of every prescription filled.
Administer vaccines as needed.
Provide patient counseling and pharmaceutical care to customers.
Ensure pharmacies comply with all local, state, and federal laws, including HIPAA.
Maintain a professional image through personal appearance, conduct, attitude, and the physical condition of the pharmacy; adhere to pharmacy standards and enforce company dress standards.
Develop a thorough knowledge of the trade area, its customers, and its competition.
Create a positive pharmacy department image through strong service, friendliness, and cooperation with customers, associates, and outside vendors.
Monitor stock replenishment, inventory levels, policies and procedures, record keeping, security, sanitation, scheduling, equipment operation, pricing, planograms, returns, budgets, management reports, and product recalls according to company policy.
Maintain proper records, inventory, and security for scheduled drugs, including controlled substances and narcotics.
Follow procedures for handling pharmacy products from authorized sources.
Use accuracy tools appropriately, including the accuracy scanner and 24-hour post-dispensing audit report.
Establish and maintain record-keeping practices necessary for legal compliance, company policies, accounting policies, and requested reports.
Maintain a clean, neat work area, including counters, shelves, floors, and the customer counter.
Ensure product returns are handled promptly and according to company policy.
Maintain equipment such as computers, printers, accuracy scanners, and cash registers in working condition.
Maintain and organize policy manuals, reference books, state laws, and required equipment, and verify that staff know how to use them.
Maintain required signage, including store hours, counseling and services signs, pharmacists’ photographs and names, and other requested signs.
Make a strong and continuous effort to broaden personal knowledge and pharmacy skills.
Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
Manage conflict reasonably, nonconfrontationally, and cooperatively.
Act honestly and with integrity regarding customer and business information.
Follow directions and seek assistance when needed to resolve customer and business issues.
