About The Position

Float Nurse - 9 month position providing direct care to students across the Shelby County School School District. Must have flexible hours to assist with providing care outside of school hours when needed.

Requirements

• Hold a current Alabama License for Associate Degree in nursing (ADN), Bachelor’s Degree in nursing (BSN), or Practical Nursing (LPN).
• Clinical nursing skills necessary to provide safe care to students with special health care needs.
• Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with administration, nursing supervisor, faculty, parents and students.
• Possess current CPR certification.

Nice To Haves

• Clinical nursing experience with school age children in the hospital, community health or pediatric clinic desired.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Provision of school health services to students
• Serve as a liaison between the school, the medical community and other agencies involved in the health and welfare of students.
• Provide direct care to students
• Assist with providing care outside of school hours when needed.
• Complete, accurate and timely documentation of health services rendered.
