About The Position

Modern Technology Solutions, Inc is seeking a Flight Test Engineering Intern this Fall 2026 at Edwards AFB, CA. The Flight Test Engineering Intern will be embedded within the USAF TPS at Edwards AFB, CA. The 412 TW is responsible for flight test across a variety of platforms in the DOD inventory, as well as host to several up-and-coming commercial projects utilizing the Edwards AFB facility and airspace. The intern will be paired with MTSI employees to assist with day-to-day tasking on projects that will benefit the Air Force Test Center and Test Pilot School customer. The Flight Test Engineering Intern will gain a wide range of experience across Flight Test operations to include the control room and newly created Doolittle Labs.

Requirements

Minimum 10 years of experience in related field
Completion of relevant Aerospace Engineering coursework
Works well in a team environment as well as independently. Skilled in making valued, trusted, defendable recommendations to leadership.
Experience with or knowledge of test plans, flight test mission material, post-mission & detailed final reports.
Previous Flight Test or DoD Lab Intern/Work Experience
Position requires willingness to accept changing and evolving roles & responsibilities in support of customers’ requirements and needs.
Ability to obtain/maintain a government security clearance.
U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.

Nice To Haves

General Aviation flight and/or maintenance experience
Completion of core aerospace coursework
Completion of flight-test coursework (if offered)
Demonstrated ability to complete tasks with an emphasis on quality with minimal supervision
