About The Position

As a Flight Test Engineer you will be responsible for leading the flight test engineering team in planning and implementing flight test program(s); coordinating test program activities with manufacturing, test site resources, engineering system specialists, and other organizations; ensuring proper configuration of the test article is specified and coordinated, as well as the proper test fixtures, sites, specialized equipment, and personnel availability to support the planned tests; and creating the test cards, conducting the pre- and post-test briefings, and directing and conducting the actual test mission from the control room (TD and TC). Maintain detailed specific knowledge of all aspects of the missions they are responsible for: Test Procedures, Aircraft Operating Limitations & Flight Clearance Limitations Compliance, Test Execution Package requirements and safety planning, including General Minimizing Procedures, Test Hazard Analyses, Applicable System Release Memos, and non-standard operation/functions of the individual aircraft tail number. Oversee execution to cost, schedule, and technical requirements. This position requires travel 50% of the time to an alternate location. Must be a US Citizen. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, science, or technology discipline
  • Proven flight testing and mission control room experience working with multi-functional test team disciplines
  • Experience leading multi-functional engineering or test teams
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Ability to work remotely
  • Ability to work onsite
  • Requires a government security clearance

  • Experience with the design and execution of test plans to evaluate aircraft performance, systems, and safety during development stages
  • Previous TC experience
  • Digital Transformation Experience
  • CAM and EVMS experience
  • Excellent communication skills, including ability to brief test results to executive leadership

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating test program activities with manufacturing, test site resources, engineering system specialists, and other organizations
  • Ensuring proper configuration of the test article is specified and coordinated, as well as the proper test fixtures, sites, specialized equipment, and personnel availability to support the planned tests
  • Creating the test cards, conducting the pre- and post-test briefings, and directing and conducting the actual test mission from the control room (TD and TC)
  • Maintaining detailed specific knowledge of all aspects of the missions they are responsible for: Test Procedures, Aircraft Operating Limitations & Flight Clearance Limitations Compliance, Test Execution Package requirements and safety planning, including General Minimizing Procedures, Test Hazard Analyses, Applicable System Release Memos, and non-standard operation/functions of the individual aircraft tail number
  • Overseeing execution to cost, schedule, and technical requirements
  • Directing and conducting ground and flight tests from a Mission Control Room environment maintaining control and communication with the entire mission test team to ensure safety and adherence to test objectives
  • Analyzing flight data, identifying anomalies, and providing technical recommendations to ensure regulatory compliance and improve aircraft functionality
  • Collaborating with pilots, engineers, and project teams to validate new technologies and certification processes
