Flight Safety Analyst (Entry Level)

Corvid Technologies LLCSanta Maria, CA
$90,000 - $120,000Onsite

About The Position

Corvid Technologies seeks qualified early-career candidates to join our Range Safety Group. Range safety requires the management of risks from a variety of rocket launch hazards, such as falling debris with potentially high-energy and explosive impacts. This work combines engineering analysis, probability and statistics, trajectory modeling, software tools, and operational safety practices to help protect the public, mission-essential personnel, and critical assets during missile, launch, and test operations. Engineers in this role will have the opportunity to build familiarity with flight safety standards, debris modeling, trajectory analysis, and range operations through on-the-job training and continued learning. This position is intended for a new hire or early-career Flight Safety Analyst with 0-3 years of relevant professional experience. The successful candidate will have a strong technical foundation, programming experience, attention to detail, and a drive for continued learning in a dynamic environment. Prior flight safety experience is helpful but not required. Corvid is seeking candidates who can grow by working on increasingly independent analysis, software/tool development, and mission-support responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance; an active clearance is preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a similar STEM discipline is required (with a strong academic record and corresponding GPA)
  • Programming experience with MATLAB and Python for engineering analysis, data processing, modeling, or visualization
  • Coursework or experience in probability, statistics, numerical methods, dynamics, aerospace systems, computer science, or related technical areas

Nice To Haves

  • Internship, research, senior-design, or project experience involving aerospace systems, flight dynamics, simulation, risk analysis, scientific computing, or mission assurance
  • Experience developing scripts, command-line tools, data pipelines, test cases, dashboards, or other reusable analysis utilities
  • Knowledge of C++, Fortran, or other compiled languages used in scientific and engineering applications
  • Familiarity with Linux environments, shell commands, version control, or high-performance computing workflows
  • Familiarity with trajectory analysis tools, range safety, launch or missile test operations, Range Commanders Council standards, or automated flight safety systems is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Use analysis tools to predict debris impact locations resulting from off-nominal flight, missile malfunction, or flight termination action
  • Support probabilistic risk analyses to estimate statistical risk to the public and mission-essential personnel due to impact of inert debris
  • Assist in developing flight safety risk mitigation products such as flight termination limit lines, hazard or caution areas, predicted impact areas, and mission rules
  • Process, analyze, and visualize trajectory, debris, and Monte Carlo simulation data sets using MATLAB, Python, and related tools
  • Develop, improve, and validate software tools, scripts, and automated workflows that support flight safety analysis and repeatable technical review
  • Help document assumptions, methods, results, and quality-control checks for range safety studies and mission-support products
  • Work with experienced analysts to review inputs, validate outputs, troubleshoot analysis issues, and prepare technical briefings for internal and customer review

Benefits

  • industry-leading health coverage
  • comprehensive retirement plans
  • generous time-off policies
  • gym membership reimbursement
  • Professional development and growth opportunities
  • generous PTO & Holidays
  • ESOP program
