About The Position

Boeing Commercial Airplanes is hiring a Flight Operations Engineering (FLOE), First Line Manager (Level K). FLOE is part of the BCA Customer Support organization. This position is based in Seal Beach, California. As the Manager, you will be leading the Flight Crew Operations Manual (FCOM), will collaborate closely with BCA Airplane Programs, BGS Mods and Conversions, Flight Technical and Safety, Customer Engineering, and other organizations to support the development, production, and delivery of this critical operational document. You will lead and advocate for a skilled team committed to delivering the highest quality output, contributing to the safe and efficient operation of the Boeing fleet. In this role, you will also engage with customers around the world to gather feedback, understand operational requirements, and stay informed of industry trends, with the goal of enhancing the customer experience and consistently exceeding expectations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry.
  • 5+ years of experience in support of aerospace products, which should include commercial and/or military airplane flight operations.
  • Candidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course “Exploring Leadership.
  • Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of experience leading or managing an engineering team.
  • Proven ability to embrace change, lead continuous improvement, and treat safety and quality as top priorities.
  • Experience in customer support.
  • Experience in flight operations (airplane safety, crew operations, flight deck and/or systems design, learning/training, and/or human factors)
  • Experience leading complex projects.
  • Knowledge of industry trends (customers, regulators, competitors, etc).
  • Willingness and ability to manage ambiguity and turn it into action.

Responsibilities

  • Manages employees perform engineering and technical activities within Product Support.
  • Develops and executes project and process plans, implements policies and procedures and sets operational goals.
  • Acquiring resources and funding for projects and processes, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements.
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports.
  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes and provides technical guidance to resolve engineering issues.
  • Manages, develops and motivates employees.
