Flight Inspector Level 1 or 2
About The Position
Northrop Grumman Space Systems is hiring a Flight Inspector at Level 1 or Level 2 for its Receiving Inspection Team in Chandler, Arizona. The role is a front-line flight hardware quality gate, ensuring incoming material meets contractual, configuration, and documentation requirements before being accepted into production. Inspected material includes EEE components, printed wiring boards, RF cable assemblies, commercial off-the-shelf items, Government-Furnished Equipment, and Contractor-Furnished Equipment. The position requires disciplined inspection execution and experience or familiarity with AS9100 or SQAR environments, depending on level. The position can be filled at either Level 1 or Level 2. Level 1 requires a high school diploma or equivalent and no additional education or related experience; Level 2 requires a high school diploma or equivalent and two years of additional education and/or related experience. No clearance is required to start, and no travel or relocation assistance is available.
Requirements

- For Level 1: no additional education or related experience is required.
- For Level 2: two years of additional education and/or related experience are required.
- Knowledge (Level 1) or experience (Level 2) inspecting items for proper identity and dimensional conformance.
- Knowledge (Level 1) or experience (Level 2) performing visual inspection for obvious defects or damage, including corrosion, cracks, dents, scratches, and pits.
- Ability to make pass/fail acceptance decisions on inspected goods and maintain inspection records.
- Familiarity with QMS documentation, including purchase orders, blueprints, drawings, inspection instructions, and checklists.
- Knowledge of AS9100 or equivalent aerospace/defense Quality Management System requirements; working knowledge is specified for Level 2.
- Familiarity with SQAR requirements and Q-code application in a government contract environment.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with the TIPQA inspection management system, including GT Master, GT Process, NCR initiation, and inspection closure.
- Experience with Deltek Costpoint ERP, including purchase order lookup, QC Inspection Required flag verification, and receiving routing.
- Experience with SAP inspection type codes or an equivalent ERP receiving/inspection module.
- IPC-A-610 Certified Inspection Specialist (CIS) or Certified IPC Trainer (CIT) certification.
- IPC-A-600 familiarity for printed wiring board acceptance inspection.
- CCAP or AS6081 training in counterfeit component detection and avoidance.
- Experience supporting MRB disposition activities in an AS9100 or DCMA-oversight environment.
- Background in quality assurance, supplier quality, or incoming inspection in an aerospace or defense manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform receiving inspection on flight-critical hardware, including EEE components, printed wiring boards, RF cable assemblies, COTS items, Government-Furnished Equipment, and Contractor-Furnished Equipment.
- Validate supplier documentation, including Certificates of Conformance, test data, lot traceability, and applicable quality-requirement compliance, before material acceptance.
- Execute inspections according to applicable Quality Specification Instructions, Work Instructions, and program-specific quality requirements.
- Initiate and complete inspection records in TIPQA and verify QC Inspection Required routing in Costpoint before acceptance.
- Initiate Nonconformance Reports and support Material Review Board documentation for nonconforming material.
- Apply visual, dimensional, and documentation-based inspection techniques and enforce holds on material with unresolved documentation or configuration issues.
- Support root cause and corrective action reviews when escapes or systemic intake deficiencies are identified.
- Collaborate with Procurement, Supplier Quality, and Production teams to resolve supplier documentation deficiencies and upstream system flags.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
