The hours for this position will be 6:00 am - 4:30 pm, Monday through Thursday. The press operator produces and converts various raw materials into finished printed products. The press department is responsible for meeting customer requirements while adhering to company standards for quality and job parameters.

Requirements

  • Mechanical aptitude/math skills
  • Previous wide-web flexographic experience
  • Experience with Uteco, W&H, Bobst, PCMC, or F&K printing presses
  • Understanding of color charts – the ability to check samples
  • Understanding color laydown and overprint
  • Read and understand docket information
  • Analytical ability
  • Operation of a printing press
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail is essential.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to maintain the confidentiality of information to company and Federal standards.
  • Must be able to adapt to changes in the work environment, manage competing demands and be able to deal with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events.
  • Must be dependable and work within company conduct standards; consistently at work and on time, follows instructions, responds to management direction, and solicits feedback to improve performance.

Responsibilities

  • Produces and converts various raw materials into finished printed products.
  • Meets both quality and production goals.
  • Loads, positions, and adjusts un-printed materials on equipment.
  • Sets up and operates the press, including analysis of a printed sample to ensure the job being produced is correct.
  • Repositions printing plates, adjusts pressure rolls, or otherwise adjusts machines to improve print quality.
  • Examines job orders to determine details such as quantities to be printed, production times, stock specifications, colors, and color sequences.
  • Monitors the printing process to maintain specified operating levels and to detect malfunctions; makes necessary adjustments.
  • Operates equipment at the required speed to ensure proper ink coverage, alignment, and registration.
  • Assists press helper in loading rolls of raw material and unloading rolls of finished product.
  • Works with Supervisor/Manager to reduce product waste.
  • Completes jobs within scheduled timeframes to meet press production goals.
  • Complies with company and job-specific SOPs (Employee Health and Safety, SQF, GMP, SGP).
  • Performs other duties as needed, including housekeeping in the press and mounting area.
