About The Position

The Flexo Operator operates a flexographic press, preparing dies, print cylinders, and inks; setting up and adjusting the press; inspecting approval strips and correcting print issues; and cleaning and maintaining printing equipment. The role also involves maintaining an organized work area and performing additional duties as assigned. This is a temp-to-hire position in Plano, Texas, with a 2:00 p.m.–12:30 a.m. shift and pay of $20–$38 per hour. The stated start is ASAP.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED, or one to three years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to read and interpret a ruler, scales, and other measurement devices.
• Regularly stand and walk between multiple machines.
• Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, with or without mechanical assistance.
• Close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

• A minimum of five years of flexographic narrow web press experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Read job orders and load dies into the press; install print cylinders on shafts and in the press.
• Fill ink pans, screens, and pumps with prescribed inks.
• Start the press and adjust speed and stock alignment to the print cylinder as needed.
• Engage print cylinders, adjust printing impression, place print cylinders lead-to-lead, and run down an approval strip.
• Cut a sample from the printed roll and inspect it for imperfections, including registration issues, missing impression, ink starvation, or color adjustments; make adjustments as necessary.
• Clean plates, print cylinders, and dies as needed, and perform required daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance.
• Mix inks to produce and maintain desired colors and viscosity.
• Keep work areas clear and organized and maintain housekeeping standards.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
