About The Position

The Flexo Press Operator operates a flexographic press, preparing dies, print cylinders, inks, and stock, then running and inspecting printed material. The operator adjusts press speed, alignment, and printing impression to meet job requirements and makes corrections based on inspection of approval strips. The role also includes mixing inks, cleaning press components, performing scheduled maintenance, and keeping work areas organized. This is a temp-to-hire position in Dallas, Texas, with a 2:00 p.m.–12:30 a.m. shift and an ASAP start. Pay is $20–$38 per hour.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED, or one to three years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to read and interpret rulers, scales, and other measurement devices.
• Ability to stand and walk between multiple machines regularly.
• Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, with or without mechanical assistance.
• Close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

• A minimum of five years of flexographic narrow web press experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Read job orders and load dies into the press; install print cylinders on shafts and in the press.
• Fill ink pans, screens, and pumps with prescribed inks.
• Start the press and adjust speed and stock alignment to the print cylinder as needed.
• Engage print cylinders, adjust printing impression, place print cylinders lead-to-lead, and run an approval strip.
• Cut and inspect samples from the approval strip for printing or die registration issues, missing impression, ink starvation, and color issues; make adjustments as needed.
• Clean plates, print cylinders, and dies as needed, and perform daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance.
• Mix inks to produce and maintain desired colors and viscosity.
• Keep work areas clear and organized and maintain housekeeping standards.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
