About The Position

Flex Officers are trained and qualified to work multiple posts, providing coverage for call-offs or vacations. They patrol buildings and grounds, monitor for safety and security issues, and respond to emergencies. This role requires flexibility in scheduling and availability on short notice. The position does not have supervisory responsibilities but reports to various managers and supervisors.

Requirements

  • Must be available to work all schedules and shifts and be available to work on short notice for call-offs.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • State Security Officer License (where applicable).
  • Certification in the use of weapons, State Armed License (if required).
  • Valid Driver's License (if in a driving position).
  • CPR/AED/First Aid Certification (may be needed).

Responsibilities

  • Patrol buildings and grounds of industrial plants, commercial establishments, docks, logging camp areas, or work sites.
  • Patrol lobbies, corridors, and public rooms.
  • Confer with management, interview guests and employees, and interrogate persons to detect infringements and investigate disturbances, complaints, thefts, vandalisms, and accidents.
  • Detect fires, unsafe conditions, and missing or inoperative safety equipment.
  • Examine doors, windows, and gates to ensure they are secure.
  • Perform and set thermostatic controls to maintain specified temperatures.
  • Register at watch stations to record inspection times.
  • Inspect assigned areas and record data on property damage, unusual occurrences, and equipment malfunctions.
  • Watch for and report irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and unlocked security doors.
  • Warn violators of rule infractions and apprehend or expel persons engaging in suspicious or criminal acts.
  • Notify staff of the presence of persons with questionable reputations.
  • Permit authorized persons and regulate vehicle/pedestrian traffic.
  • Drive radio-equipped cars to check alarms and locate sources of alarms.
  • Sound alarms or call police or fire departments in case of fire or unauthorized persons.
  • Assist management and enforcement officers in emergency situations.
  • Apprehend unauthorized persons and release them to authorities.
  • Contact supervisors by radio or telephone to report irregularities and obtain instructions.
  • Write investigation and automobile usage reports.
