Requirements

  • High School Diploma or its equivalent required.
  • 4 years’ experience in mechanical inspections and repairs in a related field.
  • Must have valid Class B Driver’s License.
  • Ability to understand and adhere to Company Policies in all areas.
  • Ability to follow all written and oral instructions.
  • Attention to Detail, Dependability, Verbal Communication, Documentation Skills, Inventory Control, Job Knowledge.
  • Ability to always implement and work in a strong safety environment.
  • Ability to work alone with little or no direction at times.
  • 4 plus years’ experience in a related field of automotive/Heavy Truck
  • Class B Commercial Driver’s License
  • Advanced knowledge and full understanding of Heavy-Duty Electrical systems utilizing the proper Diagnostic Tools
  • Able to identify the root cause of failures / conditions on all systems and components along with performing the repairs as required.
  • Must be CFC 609 Certified
  • Basic welding skills

  • Post-Secondary vocational education strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose minor mechanical and electrical problems in accordance with standard repair practices and compliance guidelines.
  • Road test vehicles to ensure repair quality and identify potential concerns.
  • Perform all other duties and skills in lesser classifications.
  • Determine vehicle condition by conducting Preventive Maintenance Inspections, oil changes, chassis lubrication, and identifying worn and damaged parts, both in the shop and remotely.
  • Perform campaigns, install components, and upgrade parts as directed.
  • Verify vehicle performance by conducting test drives, adjusting controls and systems.
  • Perform tire repairs, replacements, and rotations.
  • Comply with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and emission control standards.
  • Control costs by using warranty and evaluating service and parts options.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications.
  • Participate in specific training programs as prescribed by VTRL.
  • Acts as a mentor to lesser qualified Technicians.
  • Actively seek and participate in available training to enhance personal development.
