About The Position

The Fleet Technician is responsible for performing maintenance and repairs while coordinating with the Lead Technician and Fleet Manager. This role is responsible for performing repairs and preventative maintenance on all assigned fleet vehicles and equipment at their assigned location and its satellites as needed. Uses diagnostic tools to troubleshoot and repair issues efficiently. Reports to the Lead Technician for daily operations, work orders, and scheduling.

Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical systems including gasoline, diesel, cooling systems, and fuel systems (equipment such as skid steers, excavators, and trucks).
  • Ability to diagnose mechanical problems using diagnostic software, scanners, gauges, and meters.
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices and schedules.
  • Understanding of electrical systems and components, including wiring diagrams, circuits, batteries, alternators, starters, sensors, and electronic control units (ECUs).
  • Familiarity with computerized control systems and automated technologies.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations, codes, and standards applicable to mechanical work, including OSHA requirements, environmental regulations, and industry-specific guidelines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to explain technical issues and solutions clearly to non-technical company members.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct preventative maintenance for all fleet vehicles and equipment to reduce downtime and improve operational readiness.
  • Address repairs of company assets from initial diagnosis and/or asset recovery to work order conclusion, to include researching parts and coordinating.
  • Log all work orders, including time spent, costs and parts used, and completed tasks, into the MaintainX system.
  • Follow all safety protocols, including the use of protective equipment, proper lifting techniques, and compliance with OSHA standards.
  • Participate in periodic meetings (monthly or biweekly) with all mechanics and the Fleet Manager for knowledge sharing and feedback.
  • Facilitate regular inspections of mechanical equipment to identify defects, wear and tear, or potential issues.
  • Maintain/produce documentation and records related to maintenance, equipment specifications, and repair history.
