Learn more at www.voala.org . JOB SUMMARY AND PURPOSE The Fleet Supervisor advises the COO on the status of VOALA vehicles and the transportation requirements of the various programs. The Fleet Supervisor has responsibility for oversight of vehicle safety, maintaining tags & stickers, and regular maintenance of the vehicles owned by VOALA, implementing and maintaining data system for maintenance records of all fleet vehicles, implementing and maintaining GPS systems and vehicle usage (for compliance and monitoring vehicle use) and overseeing and maintaining all fleet vehicles located at the various sites operated by VOALA.

Requirements

  • Must be able to pass a fingerprint clearance, background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and education verifications
  • Ability to perform under circumstances of possible emotional stress and conflicts dealing with difficult, uncooperative, and potentially aggressive clients as VOALA serves the neediest of the needy in our programs which may include clients with homelessness, mental-illness, substance abuse, recently released from incarceration and other challenges.
  • Bachelor Degree in business, transportation, logistics or other related field OR 4 years of related logistics experience
  • Commercial Driver License (CDL), must obtain passenger endorsement within 90 days of hire.
  • 3 years in a logistics or transportation role

Responsibilities

  • Oversight of a fleet of over 200 vehicles
  • Research and Identify vehicle needs of VOALA programs and assist in the purchase or lease of vehicles to meet the requirements
  • Inspect vehicles and advise Program Leaders on efficient driver scheduling and vehicle usage to maximize service to the organization
  • Ensures all VOALA vehicles have current registration and license plates.
  • Tracks vehicle use, operations costs (fuel, tolls, scheduled maintenance, insurance) and vehicle costs (purchase, lease, licensing, major repairs) in order to identify most cost-effective means to satisfy VOALA transportation needs
  • Maintains detailed records of vehicle servicing and inspection.
  • Identify regional, cost effective, and reliable mechanic shops for maintenance and servicing requirements
  • Ensures compliance with CAL-OSHA and U.S. Department of Transport laws and regulations.
  • Schedules and records regular vehicle maintenance to ensure operational efficiency minimize downtime and maintain schedules
  • Monitors driver behavior and ensures a high level of safety and customer service.
  • Analyzes data to increase transportation operational efficiency.
  • Utilize GPS systems to monitor drivers and track vehicles in case of theft.
  • Stands in for couriers and drivers as needed.
  • Identify transportation needs, and advise on how to satisfy transportation requirements.
  • Ensure that all vehicles are housed in safe locations to protect these company assets at all times.
  • Continue to assess and provide solutions to new trends in vehicle and/or vehicle part thefts.
  • Assist and advise Program Leaders on driver recruitment, training and scheduling.
  • Maintain and monitor vehicle logs for correct usage and patterns of misuse, reporting to COO immediately when issues are identified
  • Keeps all vehicle titles, licenses, insurance and records current.
  • Ensure all leased vehicles are up-to-date timely.
  • Implementing and maintaining records of maintenance, usage, GPS tracking, and all matters related to vehicles.
  • Tracks transportation expenses, advises on achieving cost effective use of transportation assets.
  • Monitor gasoline usage and patterns to audit for potential misuse.
  • Schedules maintenance and inspections for vehicles, achieves operational efficiency.
  • Ensure that all vehicles have up-to-date records on maintenance and repairs, advising the COO when patterns and records of maintenance are increasing (with recommendations).
  • Conducts Safe Driver training and help develop other safety training opportunities
  • Other duties as required and is subject to change at any time.
  • As service providers to the underprivileged and vulnerable in our community, all employees are considered Mandated Reporters, and must report any instance of physical or sexual abuse to proper authorities.
