About The Position

The Fleet Supervisor independently coordinates and schedules a fleet of drivers according to customer requests, company rules, and DOT regulations to maximize operational performance and customer satisfaction. The position supervises driver activities and maintains daily communication with customers about matters affecting operational performance. This role is on-site in Raleigh, North Carolina, and works Tuesday through Saturday from 3:00 p.m. to midnight.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, Transportation, or Logistics, or equivalent work experience in lieu of a degree.
1–2 years of experience in transportation or a similar industry role.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of DOT rules and regulations is strongly desired.
Strong working knowledge of dispatch systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

Coach and counsel drivers on safety, performance, productivity, and morale, and supervise their activities.
Direct and schedule drivers’ work; plan, assign, and distribute daily work while coordinating loads, equipment, and backhauls to maximize fleet utilization.
Manage work assignments and develop daily delivery plans using equipment, manpower, and other resources to support an effective and efficient operation.
Organize, plan, and implement transportation solutions for assigned customers using cost-effective options to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction.
Identify and resolve delivery and scheduling problems through timely communication with customers, drivers, vendors, and other Ruan locations.
Perform administrative functions, including payroll, billing, driver counseling, and post-accident reviews.
Participate in the review and analysis of operating performance.
Use Ruan transportation management systems to capture required operational data accurately and in near real time.
Monitor and promote safety and compliance with company policies and federal, state, and local regulations.
