About The Position

Under general supervision, performs routine vehicle maintenance and repair duties for the City’s Garage. Essential duties and responsibilities may include performing oil changes and tune ups on various vehicles, checking tires, fluid levels, filters, wiper blades, belts, hoses, lights, and gear oil on vehicles. The role also involves supporting the relationship between the City of Galveston and the general public through courteous and cooperative behavior, maintaining confidentiality, and performing other duties as required or assigned. Employees may be required to work during emergencies to ensure public safety and restore vital services.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent; AND one year of basic automotive/motorized equipment maintenance and repair experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Texas Driver's License

Responsibilities

• Performs oil changes and tune ups on various vehicles.
• Checks tires, fluid levels, filters, wiper blades, belts, hoses and lights on vehicles.
• Checks gear oil on vehicles.
• Supports the relationship between the City of Galveston and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with citizens, visitors, and City staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and City information; performs other duties as required or assigned.
• Employees may at any time be required to work in order to provide for the safety and well-being of the general public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services, in the event of an emergency.
