About The Position

In the Department of Administrative Services, State Fleet Operations, this Fleet Repairs Supervisor is responsible for supervising the maintenance and repair operations of our three garages statewide. The State of Connecticut, Department of Administrative Services (DAS), is currently accepting applications for the position of Fleet Repairs Supervisor. This is a full-time, 40-hours per week position with a Monday through Friday schedule, first shift hours from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. A hybrid schedule will be available after successful completion of training, based on business needs and in accordance with the Telework Policy. The position is located at 55 Morgan Street, Hartford, CT. The purpose of this job class is to supervise the maintenance and repair operations of four or more statewide garages.

Requirements

  • Six (6) years of experience in the repair, maintenance, inspection and testing of passenger vehicles.
  • One (1) year of the General Experience must have been in a supervisory capacity.
  • Considerable knowledge of and ability to apply relevant state and federal laws, statutes and regulations
  • Relevant agency policies and procedures
  • Methods of repair and adjustment of passenger vehicles
  • Vehicle warranties
  • Emission controls
  • Knowledge of testing equipment and procedures
  • Considerable interpersonal skills
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to successfully negotiate adjustments from the automotive manufacturer on problems with vehicles with warranty expiration
  • Inspect and test new and repaired overhauled passenger vehicles and shop repair equipment including welding and cutting equipment, automotive testing equipment and standard machine tools
  • Keep and check records and make reports
  • Utilize computer software

Responsibilities

  • Schedules, assigns, oversees and reviews work of staff
  • Provides staff training and assistance

  • Writes specifications for service contracts with private contractors
  • Reviews work performed by private contractors
  • Supervises vehicle recall operations
  • Orders supplies and equipment
  • Maintains an inventory of supplies and materials
  • Advises state agencies regarding acceptable equipment and supplies
  • Participates in safety meetings
  • Reviews repair garage reports and records
  • Maintains paperwork generated from in-house warranty and vehicle campaigns
  • Monitors emissions testing program within fleet
  • Performs related duties as required
