About The Position

Performs intermediate technical and skilled administrative support work in the procurement, storing, inventory and issuance of parts for the repair and servicing of City automotive equipment, and related work as apparent or assigned. Performs internal customer service activities receiving work requests. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Public Works Director.

Requirements

  • General knowledge of the availability and procurement of automotive equipment parts and supplies
  • General knowledge of parts inventory and related accounting procedures
  • Some knowledge of the repair and maintenance of automotive equipment
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment including personal computer and associated software packages
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates
  • High school diploma and minimal experience in the operation of an automotive parts office and customer service activities, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid driver's license in the State of North Carolina
  • Ability to obtain Class B CDL.
  • Ability to obtain NC Vehicle Safety Inspection License within six (6) months.

Responsibilities

  • Orders, receives, releases and inventories parts and supplies for City automotive operations.
  • Receives all work requests entering into work order system and routing to Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Maintains work orders for each repair performed.
  • Enters information into computer fleet system on each work order including parts used with pricing, amount of time required to complete repairs.
  • Completes work orders in fleet system by entering labor hours for each repair as work orders are completed.
  • Maintains hard copy files on completed work orders.
  • Maintains inventory of items in stock; keeps inventories updated in computer.
  • Approves packing slips and vendor invoices for payment; forwards approved invoices to appropriate party for payment.
  • Tracks preventive maintenance schedules, runs scheduling reports for Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Verifies and tracks warranty purchases, advises Maintenance Supervisor of warranty related repairs, assists with scheduling/contracting out.
  • Tracks repair statuses and updates department supervisors on status of repairs.
  • Completes time sheets for Garage personnel.
  • Prepares monthly reports on maintenance activities of Garage and distributes to necessary personnel.
  • Assist Equipment Service Attendant with duties during slow periods.
  • Any other duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Provides excellent customer service when working with citizens, elected officials, and/or associates.
  • Supports the overall City organization by executing the directives as set forth by the immediate supervisor and elected officials.
