We’re looking for a motivated, high performing Fleet Operations Technician to join our growing team and oversee the maintenance of Halter’s infrastructure in the USA. Halter has real momentum in the USA. We’ve got ranchers who rely on us every day, a team on the ground, and a proven product. But we’re still early in this market, and there’s a lot of building still to do. You’ll play a key role in shaping how we operate here, building an efficient operational system, and resolving the market-specific challenges that come with scaling across a country this size. This position requires versatility and adaptability. One moment you’re repairing and upgrading infrastructure, the next you’re delivering towers and collars to a new ranch. You’ll be the go-to person, responsible for making sure tasks get done efficiently and effectively for an unmatched customer experience. You’ll work closely with a dedicated team both in the USA and at Halter’s Auckland HQ, ensuring a collaborative and rewarding work environment.

Requirements

  • Practical, hands-on experience with tools, electrical work, construction, networking, or equipment fitting is a must.
  • A proactive approach, with a willingness to tackle challenges head-on and figure things out on the go.
  • Practical skills and resourcefulness, with the ability to handle a wide range of tasks even without specific technical training.
  • Ability to manage your own time so that tasks are completed on schedule.
  • Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues across different locations.
  • A dedication to providing the highest quality service, ensuring that Halter’s infrastructure is always operating at its best.
  • Spontaneous and planned travel will be part of this role. You might be 3 or 4 days on the road per week, and 3 nights away from home per week.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the upkeep and repair of Halter’s infrastructure to ensure seamless operations.
  • Diagnose any issues with our hardware and feed this information back to the relevant team.
  • Move smoothly between tasks, from repairing and upgrading infrastructure to delivering towers and collars as needed.
  • Provide critical on-site support during ranch deployments, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring successful installations.
  • Be part of the global on-call roster to support tower-related incidents and proactively find solutions in a timely manner.
  • Work closely with the team both in the USA and at Halter’s Auckland HQ to ensure alignment and successful customer outcomes.
  • Address and resolve technical challenges promptly and effectively, ensuring minimal disruption to ranch operations.
  • Be prepared to manage a variety of tasks, often simultaneously, to meet the dynamic needs of the role.
  • Collect, interpret, and analyze data from our hardware to optimize processes and inform decision-making. You’ll extract actionable insights that improve operational efficiency and help resolve issues proactively.
  • Help develop and manage a maintenance system for the USA market. We’re not starting from zero, but there’s plenty of room to build something more scalable.
  • With customers based across the USA, you’ll be required to travel frequently.
