About The Position

Washington County is seeking a skilled Fleet Mechanic to maintain and repair a diverse fleet of vehicles and heavy equipment that support essential county operations. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced mechanic who enjoys troubleshooting complex issues, working independently, and making a direct impact in the community.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Two (2) years of specialized course work providing technical training in automotive and/or heavy maintenance and repair and computerized diagnostics.
Four (4) years of experience repairing gas and diesel-powered vehicles and equipment.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
Must obtain a State Safety Inspection Certificate within 90 days of hire

Utah Class "A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

Responsibilities

Diagnose, repair, and maintain gas and diesel-powered vehicles and equipment.
Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and safety checks.
Repair engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical systems, fuel systems, and suspension components.
Utilize computerized diagnostic tools to identify and resolve mechanical issues.
Perform welding, fabrication, tire repair, and field service work as needed.
Maintain repair records, order parts, and manage shop inventory.
Coordinate fleet maintenance schedules and support county departments.
