Main Ingredients of the Job! Our US FOODS® Fleet Mechanics are responsible for the troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of the Fleet Road equipment including diesel tractor, trailer, thermo-king, converter dolly, and maintenance vehicles. Ensuring compliance with all State and Federal trucking regulations. Mechanics will also be responsible for the documentation, completion, and keeping of current maintenance logs for all repairs and parts used daily. Troubleshoot, diagnose, rebuild, replace, and complete all required repairs on diesel equipment (i.e., tractors, trailers, bobtails, reefers, lift gates, etc.)

Requirements

  • Must have 1 year of verifiable hands-on experience as a heavy-duty commercial diesel mechanic.
  • Must furnish own personal hand tools.
  • Able to read and write legibly (e.g., to attend trainings, hold conversations, receive safety and job-related coaching, and enter information on reports if needed); basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, divide).
  • Ability to comply with EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) and OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) regulations as pertaining to the shop and fleet
  • Ability to read and understand technical and service manuals
  • Successfully demonstrated independent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills; able to communicate with co-workers and drivers with demonstrated teamwork skills
  • Ability to manage multiple functions simultaneously in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Valid Class A CDL license and DOT certification
  • Experience with Maximo fleet maintenance system
  • Previous mechanical and PM program experience
  • Experience using fleet maintenance software
  • Welding ability

Responsibilities
